No. 10. An Act to provide for the payment of the ex-
penses incurred on the part of the State of Maryland in the
adjustment of the boundary line between the States of Mary-
land and Virginia by arbitration, and to appropriate a sum
of money therefor.

No. 11. An Act to appropriate a sum of money to pay the
Electors of President and Vice President of the United States
in and for the State of Maryland, their officers and attend-
ants.

No. 12. An Act to regulate the compensation of the
Sheriff of Prince George's County for keeping and boarding
prisoners in jail.

The President presented to the Senate the following com-
munication from the President of the Maryland Institution
for the Deaf and Dumb:

FREDERICK, MD., January 30th, 1878.
To the General Assembly of the State of Maryland:

The Board of Visitors of the Deaf and Dumb Institution,
respectfully ask from your Honorable Body an appropriation
for its yearly support, of $25, 000.

Several reforms have been instituted, which warrant the
Board in saying they hope to reduce the expenses to this
amount.

By order of the Board,

ENOCH PRATT,

President.

Mr. Stump presented the petitions of James T. Walker
and others, and of John Mitchell and others, farmers of
Harford County, praying for a State Elevator and Pier, for
the accommodation of Maryland grain, fruit and other pro-
ducts.

Which were read, and referred to Senators Stump, Den-
nis, Hill, Hepbron and Lee.

Mr. Dennis presented the petition of E. W. Milligan and
others, citizens of Somerset County, for a bill to better regu-
late the taking and catching of oysters, &c.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

Mr. Combs, of St. Mary's, presented the petition of B. B.
Smith and 28 others of St. Mary's County, also the petition
