Act to repeal and re-enact Section 3, of the law relating to
the staking of nets in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay above
Poole's Island, so as to include all the waters of Harford
County, and that ne fish shall be taken for market purposes
between the 1st day of June and the first day of November
in any year.

Which was read, and referred to Senators Stump, Miller
and Freeman.

Mr. Stump presented the petition of George W. Brown
and 81 others of Harford County, praying for an amendment
of the public school law so as to provide for the election of the
School Commissioners by the votes of the people.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Mr. Combs, of St. Mary's, presented the petitions of
Thomas M. Shadrick and 48 others, and of Walter L. Bris-
coe and 29 others, citizens of St. Mary's County, praying for
the establishment of an Agricultural Experiment Station,
and the appropriation of a sufficient sum of money to main-
tain and support the same for the period of two years.

Which were read, and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Combs, of St. Mary's, presented the petitions of Jas.
F. Ellicott and 29 others, and of Thomas A. Lynch and 48
others, citizens of St. Mary's County, praying that the char-
ter of the Maryland Agricultural College and Model Farm
may be so altered that the said Institution may better carry
out the object of its founders.

Which were read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Freeman presented the petition of J. D. Harrison and
23 others, also the petition of Albert Smith and 21 others,
also the petition of E. N. Matthews and 8 others, and also
the petition of Mary Minnick and 26 females, all residents
of the neighborhood of Catonsville, in Baltimore Coun-
ty, praying for the passage of a law to prohibit the sale of
intoxicating liquors in the village of Catonsville or within
two miles thereof.

Which were severally real, and referred to the Committee
on Temperance.

On motion by Mr. Combs, of Allegany, it was
Ordered That the Comptroller be requested to furnish the
Senate with the Report of the Superintendent of the National
