The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and deliv-
ered the following message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 4th, 1878.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body
to proceed to the election of State Treasurer at one o'clock,
to-day.

We have nominated upon the part of the House, the Hon.
Barnes Compton, of Charles county, and Dr. J. McPherson
Scott, of Washington county, and we have appointed as
tellers on the part of the House, Messrs. Cox and Hinks,
who are to receive the votes of this House, and in connection
with tellers to be appointed by your Honorable Body to count
the same.

Chief Clerk.
Which was read.

Mr. McLane submitted the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

January 4th, 1878.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message, proposing to proceed to
the election of State Treasurer at one o'clock, this P. M., and
concur therein.

We have nominated on the part of the Senate, the Hon.
Barnes Compton, of Charles county, and Hon. Dr. J.
McPherson Scott, of Washington county, and have ap-
pointed as tellers on part of the Senate, Messrs. McLane and
Steiner.

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to and sent to the House of
Delegates.
