1028 EXECUTIVE PROCEEDINGS

Mr. Ford, from the Committee on Executive Nominations,.
to which had been referred the nominations for Cecil, St.
Mary's and Frederick Counties, and Weigher of Live Stock,
reported the Committee were of opinion that said nomina-
tions ought to be confirmed.

Whereupon the Senate advised and consented to said nomi-
nations.

Also reported, that the Committee were of opinion that
the nominations for Anne Arundel County (except the nomi-
nation of Andrew Harman as Justice of the Peace for the 4th
district) ought to be confirmed.

Whereupon the Senate advised and consented to the said
nominations.

On motion by Mr. Ford,

The Senate refused to advise and consent "to the appoint-
ment of Andrew Harman as Justice of the Peace for the 4th
district of Anne Arundel County.

On motion by Mr. Ford,

The Senate resumed the consideration of Legislative bus-
iness.

THURSDAY, March 14, 1878.

The following communication, which had been received
from His Excellency, Governor Carroll, by the hands of
Hon. Richard C. Hollyday, Secretary of State, were read :

STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, March 14, 1878.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

I nominate Spencer C. Doty as Commissioner of Deeds for
the State of Maryland, to reside in the City of New York.

JOHN LEE CARROLL.

On motion by Mr. Lee,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointment.
