OF THE SENATE. 1027

Hay and Straw, Managers of Maryland Insane Hospital,
Commissioners of Fisheries, Inspectors of Grain, civil ap-
pointments for Prince George's, Harford and Carroll Coun-
ties, reported the Committee were of opinion that said nomi-
siations ought to be confirmed.

Whereupon the Senate advised and consented to said nom-
inations.

Also reported, that the Committee were of opinion that the
nomination of John T. Morris, Samuel P. Smith and T. R.
Ward, as Managers of the House of Refuge, ought to be con-
firmed.

Whereupon the Senate advised and consented to said ap-
pointments.

Also reported, that the Committee were of opinion that
the nomination of James Pentland, as one of the Managers of
the House of Refuge, ought not to be confirmed.

Whereupon the Senate refused to advise and consent to
said nomination.

On motion by Mr. Lee,

The Senate resumed the consideration of Legislative busi-
ness.

FRIDAY, March 1st, 1878.

The following communication, which had been received
from his Excellency, Governor Carroll, by the hands of the
Hon. K. C. Hollyday, Secretary of the State, was read:

STATE OF MARYLAND,

DXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, Feb. 20, 1878.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

I nominate Charles Adams, as Weigher of Hay and Straw,
at Eastern Scales, at Canton, in Baltimore City.

On motion by Mr. Cooper,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointment.
