The Journal of March 14th, was read and approved.

PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND OTHER PAPERS.

Mr Atwell presented petition of F. A. Leatherbury
and 49 other citizens of Anne Arundel county, pro-
testing against the enactment of the Haman Oyster
bill.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Chesapeake Bay and Tributaries.

Mr, Collins presented petition of O. S. Gallup and
121 other citizens of Oxford, opposing the passage of
the Haman Oyster bill.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Chesapeake Bay and Tributaries.

Mr. Smith presented petition asking that the Char-
ter of Frederick and Woodsboro be renewed.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Corporations.

ORDERS.

On motion of Mr. Howard, it was

Ordered, That Mr. Harvey be excused from to-day's
session on account of sickness.

Mr. Hill presented the following:

Resolved, That whereas several bills relating to the
planting of oysters are now pending in this House and
it is desired by this body to obtain as much informa-
tion as possible on the siibject, therefore be it ordered
that Mr. B. Howard Haman, of Baltimore, be invited
to address this House upon the subject of oyster plant-
ing at a session of this House to be held Wednesday
evening, March 16th, at 8 o'clock.

Ordered, That the members of the Senate he invited
to attend in this chamber at said session.

Which was adopted.
