in regard to Messrs. Benson B. D. Bond, and Oliver
D. Simmons.

And they were ordered to stand aside.

Whereupon,

Mr. Wells, of Prince Georges', made a similar mo-
tion in regard to Mr. James De B. Walbach and Mr.
Hungerford Smoot.

And they were ordered to stand aside.

After the conclusion of the swearing in of the mem-
bers of the House, the Speaker called the members
whose seats were contested, and who were returned
elected, and administered the oath to them.

Notices of contest were, filed as follows:

Estep Paddy and Leroy L. Chaney, vs. Benson B.
D. Bond and Oliver D. Simmons.

William J. Frere. vs. James De B. Walbach.

Benjamin M. Edelin, Jr., vs. Hungerford Smoot.

Which were read and referred to the Committee on
Elections, (hereafter to be appointed).

ORDERS.

On motion of Mr. Goslin, it was

Ordered, That Benjamin L. Smith of Dorchester
county, be Chief Clerk of the House of Delegates,
Humphrey D. Wolf of Howard county, the Reading
Clerk; John T. Burch of Prince George's county,
Journal Clerk; Joseph H. Gale of Baltimore city,
Chief Engrossing Clerk, and Isaac T. James Brown of
Somerset county, Sergeant-at-Arms.

Mr. Goodwin offered the following proposed amend-
ments :

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Amend by striking out the name of Dr. Benj. L.
Smith, Dorchester county, and inserting in lieu thereof
the name of Dr. A. V. Huntzberry of Washington
county. By striking out the name of Humphrey D.
Wolf of Howard county, and insert in lieu thereof,
Benj. Duvall of Frederick county; by striking out the
name of John T. Burch, and insert in lieu thereof,
