of Delegates for that purpose, appeared in the Hall
of the House of Delegates for the purpose of convening
with the members of the House of Delegates in Joint
Assembly for the election of a Senator from this State,
for a term of six years, from March 4th, 1905. in suc-
cession of the Hon. Louis E. McComas, whose term
will then expire.
The Speaker of the House of Delegates assumed the
Chair as Chairman of the Joint Assembly.
The Secretary of the Senate then read the Journal
of proceedings of the Senate of the preceding day, in
relation to the election of a Senator in Congress from
this State, for the term ending on the 4th day of
March, 1911.
After which,
The Clerk of the House of Delegates read the
Journal of the proceedings of the House of Delegates
on the preceding day, in relation to Senator to Con-
gress from this State, showing the fact that no person
at the vote so taken had received a maiority of all the
votes of said House of Delegates, for Senator in Con-
gress from this State, for the term of six years, ending
on the 4th day of March, 1911.
The roll of the Senators was then called by the Sec-
retary of the Senate, and it appeared that 27 members
were present.
The Clerk of the House of Delegates then proceeded
to call the roll of the House of Delegates, and 98
Members answernd to their names.
The roll of Senators was then called by the Sec-
tary of the Senate.
The President named the Hon. Bernard Carter.
