to said House of Delegates, being present and vot-
ing, the

Hon. John Walter Smith received 23 votes,
Hon. Elihu E. Jackson received 3 votes.
Hon. Lonis E. McComas received 30 votes.
Hon. Bernard Carter received 4 votes.
Hon. Joshua W. Miles received 3 votes.
Hon. John B. Henderson received 2 votes.
Hon. Edwin Warfield received 1 vote.

Whereupon,

The Speaker declared that no person had received a
majority of the votes cast by the House of Delegates
for United States Senator, and the said fact was accord-
ingly so entered on the Journal of the House of Dele-
gates by the Clerk thereof.
