House bill file No. 317, entitled "An Act to add an
additional section to Article 12, of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title 'Garrett County,' sub-title 'Justices
of the Peace and Constables,' defining the jurisdiction
of Justices of the Peace, said section to be designated
as section 135 A."

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

In section 135 A line 26, strike out the word "no"
and insert the words "but one." In line 29 strike
out the words "shall have jurisdiction to," and insert
the word "may."

Considered on second reading, and on motion re-
ferred to the Judiciary Committee.

The Speaker distributed the following messages
from the Senate :

House bill, File No. 170, entitled "An Act to repeal
section 80, of Article 5, of the Code of Public General
Laws of Maryland, title 'Appeals and Errors,' sub-
title 'Appeals from the Commissioners of the Land
Office,' and to re-enact the same with amendments."

Endorsed: "Read the third time, and passed by
yeas and nays."
Also,

House bill, File No. 155, entitled "An Act to regu-
late and equalize the pay of the Judges of the Orphans'
Court for Dorchester county."

Endorsed: "Read the third time, and passed by
yeas and nays."
Also,

House bill, File No. 104, entitled "An Act to amend
Article 27, of the Code of Public General Laws, title
'Crimes and Punishments,' by repealing section 47 A.
as enacted by chapter 73 of the Acts of 1896, and re-
enacting the same with amendments, under the sub-
title 'Desertion of Wife or Child,' and by adding
thereto an additional section to follow immediately
after section 47 A, and to be known as 'Section 47 B.' "

Endorsed: "Read the third time, and passed by
yeas and nays."
