The House proceeded to ballot for Treasurer of the
State of Maryland; in place of the Hon. Murray Van-
diver.

The tellers, Messrs. Dennis and Goslin, having taken
their places, the roll was called, each member present
having deposited his ballot, the Speaker sealed the
ballot-box; when the tellers proceeded with the same
to meet the tellers on the part of the Senate, and after
an absence of twenty minutes, re-appeared and sub-
mitted the following:

The committee appointed by the Senate and the
House of Delegates to count the votes cast for Treaus-
urer of Maryland, beg leave to report that
The votes east by the Senate were in number...... 25

The votes cast by the House were in number.......93

Making in all............................................118

Of which number, Hon. Murray Vandiver received
84.

Hon. Thomas J. Shryock received 34.

We, therefore, respectfully report,

That the Hon. Murray Vandiver, having received
the largest number of votes, is returned by the tellers
as elected to the office of Treasurer of Maryland.

On the part of the House of Delegates.

Whereupon,

The Speaker declared the Hon. Murray Vandiver,
having received a majority of all votes cast by both
branches of the General Assembly, was duly elected
State Treasurer for the term of two years.

The Secretary of the Senate appeared and delivered
the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

January 14th, 1904.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :
