PETITIONS, MEMORIALS, &c.

The Speaker laid before the House, papers in con-
tested election case, Wm. J. Frere and Benj. M.
Edelen against Walbach and Smoot.

Which was referred to the Committee on Elections.

Mr. Harry presented the following petition from
Perry O. Smith, et al., asking that the B. & O. R. R.
Co. be required to place a watchman at the railroad
crossing at Lime Kiln, in Frederick county.

Which was referred to the Frederick county dele-
gation.

ORDERS.

On motion of the Speaker, it was
Ordered, That W. Meade Holladay be paid fifty
dollars for extra compensation for services rendered
as Assistant to Journal Clerk.
Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

On motion of Mr. Bosse, it was

Ordered, That Mr. Trager be excused from atten-
dance of to-day's session on account of important
business.

On motion of Mr. Evans, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Lipman be excused from to-day's
attendance of session on account of important business.

On motion of Mr. Hall, it was
Ordered, That Messrs. Moore, Morrison, Murphy,
