House bill, File No. 634, entitled "An Act to re-
peal sections 176, 176, (or 176 B) 178 B and 378 D of
Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
'Anne Arundel County,' sub-title 'Justices of the
Peace and Constables,' as the same was enacted by
sections 17(5, 176 (176 B) of chapter 3B4 of the Acts of
1892, section 178 B of chapter 276 of the Acts of 1900,
section 178 B of chapter 467 of the Acts of 1902, and
section 178 D of chapter 30] of the Acts of 1894 and
to re-enact said section with amendments and to add
new sections to said Article 2, to be designated as
"Sections 176, 176 B, 178 D and 178 E.' "
Endorsed: "Read the third time and passed by
yeas and nays as amended."
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
In section 178 D. Strike out all after the words
"defendant" in the 46th line to the end of the word
"prescribed" in line 49 and insert the following:
"The Constable for the 6th district shall be allowed
.and paid the sum of sixty dollars monthly, to be paid
by the County Commissioners of the county, and the
regular fees now allowed by law shall be collected,
paid to and accounted for by the Justices of the Peace
of said district or either of them, and paid over to the
County Commissioners."
In line 23, after the word "peace" add the words
"such reports of both Constables and Justices of Peace
shall be made under oath."
In line 38, after the word "district," "and for the
Eastport precinct of the second election district,
wherein no constable shall be appointed by the County
Commissioners other than the police officer, who shall
not receive any pay for doing criminal work, other
than his monthly salary."
"All Acts or parts of Acts inconsistent with the pro-
visions of this bill are hereby repealed."
