"Sec. 69. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Board'of Public Works shall im-
mediately after the passage of this Act designate two
of the general measurers and inspectors of oysters al-
ready appointed under the provisions of section 6 of
chapter 880 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland for 1894, who, with the Commander of the
Oyster Navy, shall compose and hereby constitute
for the purposes hereinafter designated the 'Shell
Fish Commissioners,' the said genera] measurers and
inspectors so designated shall be entitled to receive
for their services after the close of the oyster season
from the 25th of April to the first clay of August, next,
ensuing, the compensation as is now allowed by law
and the Comptroller is directed to draw warrants upon
the Treasurer of Maryland for said salaries, to be paid
out of the Oyster Fund.
"Sec. 70. Be it enacted, That the sum of twenty-five
thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby annually
appropriated from any sum or sums of money belong-
ing to or on deposit to the credit of the Oyster Fond, if
any, and shall be payable on the warrant of the Comp-
troller by the Treasurer in such sums and to such per-
sons, firm or corporation as may be designated as
entitled to receive the same by the Shell Fish Com-
missioners for oyster shells purchased by the State
of Maryland, said shells shall be purchased by adver-
tising, from the lowest bidder by sealed proposals.
Said oyster shells are to be scattered and deposited
upon the bottom of the Chesapeake Bay and its
tributaries as hereinafter provided under the direc-
tion and supervision of the Shell Fish Commissioners,
and in such parts thereof as the Shell Fish Com-
missioners may deem proper and shall designate
therefor. That after oyster shells' have been scattered
and deposited as hereinbefore provided, it shall be
the duty of the Shell Fish Commissioners to have
placed floating buoys or other visible marks at such
distances from the bottom, including such contiguous
bottoms as may be necessary for the protection of the
oysters grown thereon, and to designate such locations
by landmarks when possible, and when the said bot-
