Mr. Hitchcock, from Committee on Game and Fish,
reported favorably,
House bill, File No. 773, entitled "An Act to amend
section 94 of chapter 441, of the Acts passed at the
General Assembly in the year 1896, which provided
that certain sections should be added to Article 39 of
the Code of Public General Laws, title 'Fish and
Fisheries,' sub-title 'Chesapeake Bay.' "
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
A bill entitled ''An Act to amend section 04 of chap-
ter 441 of the Acts passed at the General Assembly in
the year 1896, which, provided that certain sections
should be added to Article 39 of the Code of Public
General Laws, title 'Fish and Fisheries,' sub-title
'Chesapeake Bay.' "
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly,
That section 94 of chapter 441 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, January session of 1896,
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments, so as to read as follows:
94. It shall not be lawful for any person in taking
fish for sale by the use of pound nets, fykes or other
contrivances now known or hereinafter invented to set
such pound nets or fykes or other contrivances now
known or hereinafter invented, in the waters of Chesa-
peake Bay within the jurisdictional limits of the State
of Maryland, below Pool's Island on the Kent county
shore in Chesapeake Bay to a line down east and west
from the southernmost extremity of Kent county at
a greater distance than 1200 yards from low water mark.
The provisions of this section shall not apply to the
waters of Kent county within the distance of 3200
yards from said shores at a low water mark, but the
same are specially reserved and excepted from the
operation of this section or any law of this State to
the contrary, notwithstanding, and any person viola-
ting the provisions of this section shall, upon the con-
viction thereof before any justice of the peace of Kent
county, be fined the sum of not less than twenty and
not more than $100, or shall forfeit said net or nets,
together with the boats and tackles used in violation
