be appointed by the Speaker to whom shall be referred
the message of the Governor, for the purpose of referr-
ing the various subjects therein treated to the appro-
priate committees.
Which was adopted.

Mr. Wells presented the following message:
By THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 6th, 1904.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

The House of Delegates has organized by the elec-
tion of Hon. George Y. Everhart as Speaker and Ben-
jamin F. Smith as Chief Clerk.

We are now ready to proceed with the business of
the session, and propose, with the concurrence of your
Honorable Body, the appointment of a Joint Com-
mittee of the two houses, two members on the part of
the Senate, and three members on the part of the
House, to wait upon the Governor and inform him
that the Legislature is prepared to receive any com-
munication that he may be pleased to make. We
have named on the part of the House Messrs. Wells,
Godwin and M. Goslin.

Chief Clerk.
Which was read, assented to and sent to the Senate.

Mr. Kirbin submitted the following message:
BY THE HOUSE OP DELEGATES,

January 6th, 1904.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable
Body, that when the General Assembly adjourns to-
day, it stands adjourned until Tuesday next the 12th
inst., at 7:30 o'clock p. m.
