nal thirteen States of the Union, and has ever been
conspicuous in the affairs of the nation, owing to its
p'ast history, its relative location with regard to North,
South, East and West, its natural resources, its prox-
imity to the Nation's Capitol, the possession within
its borders of one of the largest cities and greatest
ports in the country, and it is fitting that our State
should be creditably represented before the world at,
the said exposition; therefore be it
Resolved, That the Merchants and Manufacturers
Association renew and continue the efforts made at
the last session of the General Assembly of Maryland,
to have an adequate appropriation made, so that a
State building and exhibit can be placed at the Louis-
iana Purchase Exposition, and we hereby express the
hope that the sum or not less than $60,000 shall be-
appropriated by the General Assembly of 1904, for
this purpose.
Resolved, That a copy of this resolution shall be
forwarded to the members of the General Assembly,
and that a special committee be appointed by the
President to co-operate with the Maryland Commis-
sioners to said exposition in their endeavor to obtain
such an appropriation.

INTRODUCTION OF RESOLUTIONS.
Mr. Williams offered the following Joint Resolu-
tion:
Requesting the Secretary of the Navy of the United
States be, and he is hereby requested to grant to Rear
Admiral Winfield Scott Schley, an order giving an.
official residence in the city of Annapolis, Anne
Arundel county, State of Maryland; whereby he may
be permitted to exercise his right of franchise in said
city and State.
