until the next regular meeting of the City Council, at
the time of which meeting, the Mayor shall present
the name of a person for confirmation to fill said
vacancy, and the mode and manner of procedure in
such a case shall be the same as provided for in this
section for other appointments by the Mayor and con-
firmation by the Second Branch.
Also,
After the word "after" on line 104 of printed bill,
insert the following, ''and shall serve, except as here-
inafter provided, from two years from the date of their
election." and on line 110 after the word "elected" in-
sert "as his successor."
Strike out all of section 213, and insert the follow-
ing:
"Sec. 218. On the Tuesday next after the first Mon-
day in November, in the year 1904, and in every
second year thereafter, an election shall be held for
four members of the Second Branch of the City Coun-
cil to fill the places of the members whose terms next
expire, who shall serve, except as hereinafter provi-
ded, for four years from the date of their election, but
the members of said branch elected in May, 1901 and
in May 1903, respectively, shall serve until the ex-
piration of the term for which they were originally
elected, except in the case of the death, resignation,
removal from the city or other disqualification of any
of said members in said branch on the happening of
any of these specified events, the person elected at the
election held on the Tuesday after the first Monday in
November, 1904 or 1906, respectively, who has been
elected as his successor, shall at once enter upon the
discharge of his duties as such member of said Second
Branch, after the expiration of the terms of the mem-
bers of the said Second Branch, elected in May, 1901,
and 1903, respectively, the members of the Second
Branch elected on the Tuesday after the first Monday
in November, in the year 1904, and in every second
year thereafter, shall forthwith enter upon the dis-
charge of their duties."
