( 24 ) 7ber 13th 1692 By his Exncy The Capt Genll &ca ________ Maryland Whereas Complt hath been made my the Severll Principall Comanders & Chief Officers of the militia in the respective Countys within this Province, that the publick Arms both for Horse & foot, &c are Lodged & detained in Several private persons hands & posscon & not to be preserved for Service, or to be fixed & repaired as occasion may require, I have therefore thought fitt, & doe hereby Straitly Charge & Comand in their Maties Names all & Singular the Inhabitants of this Province whatsoever having in their hands & posscon any of the Country or publick Armes, whether fixed or unfixed, forthwith to render & deliver the Same into the Custody & Posscon of the Comder in Chief or principall military Officer in the respective County, where he she or they having Such Arms as afd do live & reside, to be fixed & repaired & disposed of as shall be thought fitt for their Maties Service Whereof lett no person fail upon pain & peril of being Sevearly & Strictly proceeded agt as persons Concealing & imbezleing their Maties Arms, according to the Laws & Statutes of England in Such Case made & provided, And to the end that no person whatsoever may plead or pretend ignorance herein. I doe hereby also, Straitly Charge & Comand all & every the respective Sheriffs of this Province forthwith upon Receit to make publick Proclamacon hereof, in the most Publick & Convenient places, in their respective Counties Given under my hand & Seal. this Eight day of August Anno Dom. 1692 in ye fourth year of the Raign of or Soveraign Lord & Lady King Wm. & Queen Mary &ca = To the Sheriffe of Somerset County Sealed or his Deputy these. _____ L.
