  (17)      Augt. 9th: 1692
 
Jenckins discourse it againe, but showed me how he drew a Curtaine to Secure ye Chinks
that they might not be Seen by Dorman, and that Dorman had profered him eight pound B
to relinquish which these Evidences heard, and that they thrust out their hands at ye window --
when mr Dorman went away your Deponent replyed that he never heard of the like trick before
but on further discourse I told mr Jenckins that he (viz) Dorman would not deny that 12s& 6d
was discoursed for I heard him Say So my Self: Sayes mr Jenckins that is all I care for and
will Sumond you and Evidence your Deponent replyed & Said he would put me to trouble
& doe him Self no good & further Sayeth not.        Ja:  Sangster
       The Deponent James Sangster in Open Court made Oath to the truth of his Deposition

The Deposition of Samuel:Richardson & Elizabeth his wife aged each twenty eight
or there abouts Saith that on friday the 10th: day of June last past being at the house of mr
ffrancis: Jenckins in Pocomoke; the Deponants were by the sd Jenckins informed that John
Dorman: Mercht. was there; and that he had denyed a bargaine made Some time before with ye
Said Jenckins for fifty hogsheads of tobacco he had Sold him; the sd Jenckins therefore
desired us to withdraw into the next roome & take good notice of the discourse that might
happen to arise between the said Dorman & Jenckins about their Said bargain which wee
Condescended to, the Chamber door where we were being Open. Dorman Comes down Staires
into the outward roome, and after a Small time the said Jenckins & Dorman fell into discourse
about the aforesaid bargaine: where Dorman declared he had Sold all his goods, Now he had nothing
left of goods; the sd Jenckins puts it to him as case of conscience, how he could be so unworthy
to Serve him Soe knowing how firme & positive a bargaine they had made and how much to
his damage it would prove: how the markett was over then for tobacco and Saying mr Dorman
you know my bargaine was; with you for my fifty hogsheads of tobacco, you were to allow &
pay me twelve shillings Six pence pr hundred for, in yr goods then at my Landing (prime) Cost
in England without any aditionall Charge & how you have my Orders for the tobaccos with
the marks Nombers & weights, & have given me Credit for Six hundred Seaventy Six & a halfe
pounds of tobacco for William Bowing in yr Store; and delivered me Sixty five perticulers of
the Said goods, and now would now deprive me of the goods; and keep my tobaccos. The aforesaid
Dorman Owned the aforesd bargain in every perticuler but asked the sd Jenckins how he
would prove it: the Evidence being gone, but for ye tobacco of Wm: Bowings; he was willing
