(149) Janry 12th. Anno Dom 1691 To the worll. Court of Somerset County prsent these . Gentlemen -- I humbly Crave your excuse for my absence this Court, In Case mr. Page & Others Concerned, their business come to tryal this Court, may be expedient yr worps be pleased to take notice of a Deposition mr Sangster hath under my hand of a Confession from Margeret Kenneday, the which am informed she has the impudence peremptorily to disown and deny, if the Court So find it, I humbly pray they will See that she be rewarded and not sheer Clear as Jonathan Wolfendons wife did in the like Case to the verity of which written in the Deposition aforesd I invoake the all knowing God, the God of truth to wittness, which is of much more weight and Solemnity (with me) then kissing the book, Leave yw to the dispose of the allwise Providence he that Standeth in the Congregation of the Gods, Direct you in all yr affairs Soe prayes Your humble Servant Samll: Hopkins To the worll Court of Somerset County the humble Petition of George Goddard humbly sheweth. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ That yr petioner was Sumoned last November to attend the Court as a Grand Jury man but yr Petitioner, not being able by reason of the gripes of the gutts, as I can make appear. your worps were pleased to fyne yr petioner as I understand in the Sum of 500lbs of tobacco. therefore yr Petioner humbly Craves yr worps to take to yr Serious Considrn your petioners Case, that the said fyne may be remitted. Your Petioner also being a Jury man last March Court and your Petitioner Shall every pray George Goddard The abovesd Petion being read, & Considered by this Court, is granted To the worll. Justices of Somerset County now in Court Sitting . -- The humble Petion of Jeremiah -- Townsend humbly sheweth. That yr worshps pleasure was for to bind yr Petioner to his good behaviour the last Court past. Nothing appearing agt yr Petioner. Your Petioner Craves Releasement from his bonds and your Petioner in duty bound shall ever pray. The abovesd Petion being read, was by this Court Considered and granted To the worll. Comissioners of Somerset County now in Court Sitting. the humble Petion of John: Ritchins most humbly sheweth that yr Petioner was Sumoned to Serve as a Jury man, and did Serve One day your Petioner went to John Covingtons house for quarters, there yr Petioner did tye his horse, head and foot which horse gott out into the woods, and was not found in three dayes, therefore yr Petioner Craveth that of yr Clemency your worps would be pleased to remitt his ffyne, and yrr Petioner shall be ever in duty bound to pray The abovesd Petion being Read, was by this Court Considered and granted To the worll. their Maties Justices of the Peace for the County of Somerset the humble petion of Jno. Strawbridge humbly sheweth unto yr worships that whereas yr Petioner was by yr worps Ordered in August Court last to pay two hundred pounds of tobacco to John: Taylor for the taking up of One Mary Maxwell Servt. to the Petioner, when she was taken up. So it is may it please yr worps that the said Mary Maxwell is now Serving the said Runnaway time wth.Edward Jones The premises tenderly Considered. May it therefore please your worps to Order that the said Edward
