November 11th 1691 ( 132 ) Their Maties The said Dft Teague Riggen, last night at the house Contra of mr Andrew. Whittington was Comitted in the Sheriffs Teague: Riggen. Senr } Custody for Sundry abuses then & there perpetrated viz = ~ ~ ~ ~ being Drunk, Swearing and abuseing the Comissioners -- And the Said Teague this day was by the Sheriffe brought to the Barr in Court before the sd Comissionrs to whome the Said Teague Confest that he was drunk, for wch offence the sd Court Ordered him fined according Law. The Court likewise reproved the sd Teage for his aforesd Crimes telling him that he was allready bound to the good behaviour. // And it is this Courts judgmt, that he the sd Teague hath broke these Bonds ~ ~ ~ It is likewise Ordered by this Court that the Said Teague Riggen give New Security for his good behaviour. Ordered also the Sheriffe take sd Teague Riggen into Custody till Security be given . _____ ~ ~ ~ ~ Whereupon Came the Said Teague Riggen with his Securities (viz) mr Henry: Lynch. and Philip Connoway. And the sd Teague by Recognizance in Open Court did acknowledg him Selfe to be justly indebted to their Maties. Wm & Mary King & Queen Over England &c. in the full and just Sum of twenty pounds Sterling money of England due to be Leavied upon his goods and Chattels lands & tennements for their Maties uses &c. Likewise the sd Lynch & Connoway did confess them Selves to be indebted to their said Maties the Sum of Tenn pounds a piece like money as abovesd to be Leavied as abovesd for the uses abovesd . ____ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ______ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ _______ ~ ~ ~ The Condition of this Recognizance is Such that if the Said Teague Riggen above bounden be of the good behaviour and abearance To all their Maties Liege people of this Province dureing this Courts pleasure as also pay his fine & fees then the Recognizance to be void and of none Effect Otherwayes to be and remaine in full power force and vertue. __________ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ To the worll. their Maties Justices of the Peace, and Gentm. of the Grand Jury for the Body of this Court the humble Petion of ffrancis Bensten Senior humbly Sheweth, that it hath please Allmighty God both by Sickness & fire to afflict your petioner So that he is now reduced to a Low & Bed rid Condition and all his family in a Strait. And whereas it hath been the Christian to help and relieve Such persons as have been known, to be good and Orderly housekeeper, of which number your Petioner presumes to be One, and being one of the oldest housekeepers on this Shore Craves that ye Christian Charity may Soe farr extend as to Some relief. And your Petioner Shall ever in duty Pray. 9ber Court 1691 Allowed pr this Court to Petioner viz -- Fr. Bensten. __________ ~ ~ ~ 2ld. tobacco per head out of County Leavy This Court Orders that a Suffitient Bridge be made Over agt where mr Beauchamp lived. // But the next day sd Evenden Came to Court & produced a transcript from Record that the aforesd Bridge was formerly Ordered only till a Plantation was Seated above it upon which Everndens ( ) Petion was Ordered to be Continued ___________ ~ ~ ~ ~ vide Petion. 133 -- |
