6(i). Dredging Season. It shall be unlawful to take or
catch oysters by dredge in any of the waters of this State
wherein dredging is permitted by this section except during
the dredging season which shall begin on the first day of
November in each year and end on the fifteenth day of March
next succeeding.

7(a). Dredging in County Waters. It shall be lawful
to use or employ boats, duly licensed as provided in this
section, to take or catch oysters by dredge in Dorchester,
Talbot and Somerset Counties in waters hereinafter specified.
It shall be unlawful to take or catch oysters by dredge in
Dorchester, Talbot or Somerset Counties without a license,
or to use a dredge boat licensed to take oysters in Dorchester,
Talbot or Somerset Counties in any waters other than the
waters hereinafter assigned to the county in which said
boat shall have been licensed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That a new section
be and the same hereby is added to Article 72 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Oysters and
Clams", as said Article was enacted by Chapter 929 of the
Acts of 1945, said new section to be known as Section 5A,
and to follow immediately after Section 5 of said Article,
and to read as follows:

5A. DREDGING; GENERAL RESTRICTIONS.

(a) Dredge Boats. It shall be unlawful for the owner,
captain or master, or any member of the crew of any boat
capable of self-propulsion by any motor, turbine or other
engine attached to said boat, to have on board such boat,
or in tow, or to permit on board or in tow, any scoop, scrape,
dredge or similar instrument used in dredging, or any winch,
spool, winder or other tackle used in dredging, unless said
boat be licensed to dredge on leased land, or unless said boat
be engaged in taking seed oysters under the surveillance
and with the permission of the Department of Tidewater
Fisheries.

(b) Dredging on Leased Land. It shall be unlawful, for
the owner, captain or master, or any member of the crew
of any boat to take, or catch oysters by scoop, scrape or
dredge, or to permit oysters to be taken by scoop, scrape or
dredge, on any land in this State leased for the cultivation
of oysters unless the boat used or employed in such dredging
be licensed by the Department for dredging on leased land
and the owner, captain or master of said boat have on board
the written consent of the lessee or tenant of the leased
land from which any such oysters shall have been taken.

(c) Dredging Areas. All the submerged land of this State
not leased for the cultivation of oysters or not designated
