Chapter 557 of the Acts of 1947, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
451 1/2. (a) A County Roads Board for Dorchester County
is hereby created. The Board of County Commissioners of
Dorchester County is hereby constituted the said County
Roads Board. The Clerk to said Board of County Commis-
sioners is hereby constituted clerk to said County Roads
Board, the County Treasurer of Dorchester County is hereby
constituted to be the Treasurer to said County Roads Board,
and the Attorney to said Board of County Commissioners is
hereby constituted Attorney to said County Roads Board.
(b) The members of the Board of County Commissioners of
Dorchester County shall each receive, in addition to their
compensation as County Commissioners, compensation of Six
Hundred Dollars ($600. 00) annually as members of said
County Roads Board. The Clerk to said County Roads Board
shall receive annual compensation of Six Hundred Dollars
($600. 00) in addition to the compensation received as Clerk
to said Board of County Commissioners, the County Treasurer,
in addition to the compensation received as Treasurer to said
Board of County Commissioners, shall receive the compensa-
tion of Six Hundred Dollars ($600. 00) annually as Treasurer
to said County Board, and the Attorney to said County Roads
Board shall receive annually compensation of One Hundred
Dollars ($100. 00) in addition to the compensation received
as Attorney to said Board of County Commissioners, plus fees
for special services to said Roads Board.
(c) Said County Roads Board shall be possessed of all the
powers and authority as the County Commissioners now or
may hereafter possess with respect to roads and bridges in
said county under any public general or public local law, in-
cluding the power of condemnation. Whenever the term
''Board of County Commissioners" shall be used in this sub-
title, it shall be taken to mean "County Roads Board", except
with respect to the levying of taxes.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
