Board, Inc., and the income therefrom shall be exempt
from State, county and municipal taxation; provided that the
proceeds derived from the sale thereof be used exclusively for
the improvement of land and buildings owned by the State of
Maryland and used in connection with the University of
Maryland.

SEC. 2. And be it further. enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 70.
(House Bill 34)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 44C of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), as enacted by Chapter
507 of the Acts of 1947, to be under a new sub-title "Co-
operatively Owned Apartments", to be known as Section 6,
and to follow immediately after Section 5 of said Article,
authorizing the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore
City to provide by ordinance or resolution for regulation
and control of evictions of tenants from co-operatively
owned apartments or co-operatively owned multiple dwell-
ing units, notwithstanding the provisions of Section 4 of
this Article.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
44C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), as
enacted by Chapter 507 of the Acts of 1947, to be under a
new sub-title "Co-operatively Owned Apartments", to be
known as Section 6; to follow immediately after Section 5 of
said Article, and to read as follows:

CO-OPERATIVELY OWNED APARTMENTS,

6. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 4 of this
Article, the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore City are
hereby authorized and empowered, by ordinance or resolu-
tion, to provide for regulation and control of evictions of
tenants from co-operatively owned apartments or co-opera-
tively owned multiple dwelling units.
