CHAPTER 6.
(Senate Bill 9)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
19A of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Elections", sub-title "Registration",
as said Section was enacted by Chapter 783 of the Acts
of 1947, providing for a new general registration of voters
in Baltimore County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 19A of Article 33 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Elections", sub-title
"Registration", as said section was enacted by Chapter 783
of the Acts of 1947, he and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

19A. In Baltimore County a new general registration of
all the qualified voters of said county may, in the discretion
of the Supervisors of Elections of said County be made
by the Boards of Registry in the year 1948. Such new gen-
eral registration shall be made in the same manner and un-
der the same rules and provisions in all respects as are pro-
vided in this Article so far as the same may be applicable
and except as herein modified. Each Board of Registry shall
sit for said new registration at the place designated by the
Board of Supervisors of Elections, on the last Monday of
September, 1948 and the first Monday in October, 1948, in
addition to the days prescribed by Section 15 of this Article,
and shall register the name of voters on the days aforesaid.
The registration of voters made under the provisions of this
section shall supersede and thereafter be used in the place of
the present registration of voters in Baltimore County, after
the Primary Election to be held in the month of May, 1948.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety and
having been passed upon by yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
