                           CHAPTER 440.

AN ACT to make valid the official acts of such persons
     as were Commissioners under the act of eighteen
     hundred and thirty-seven, chapter ninety-seven, and
     who were not appointed under the amendatory act of
     eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter one hundred
     and six.
Preamble.
     WHEREAS, By the act of eighteen hundred and fifty-two,
chapter one hundred and six, amendatory of the
act of eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, all commissions
issued to commissioners to take the acknowledgment
of deeds and instruments of writing, under seal,
out of this State, were continued in force until the first
Monday in May last past, and until their successors
should be appointed and duly qualified; And whereas,
by virtue of the said amendatory act, certain persons
were appointed and duly qualified as successors under
the original act of eighteen hundred and thirty-seven,
chapter ninety-seven; And whereas, on account of the
records of the Executive Department not showing the
residences of those persons who had been appointed
under the act of eighteen hundred and thirty-seven,
chapter ninety-seven, said persons could not be notified
of the fact of their being re-appointed, or superceded;
And whereas, all persons holding commissions under
the act of eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, chapter
ninety-seven, were not commissioned under the amendatory
act of eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter
one hundred and six; And whereas, such persons
regularly commissioned and qualified under the original
act of eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, chapter
ninety-seven, may, since the passage of the amendatory
act of eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter one
hundred and six, and since its being carried into force
have acted under their original commissions; Therefore,
Made valid.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That all official acts of such persons as
have been described in the foregoing preamble, as having
been appointed and qualified under the act of eighteen
hundred and thirty-seven, chapter ninety-seven,
be, and the same are hereby declared and made valid
and effectual to all intents and purposes, as if they had
been done under the provisions of the amendatory act
of eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter one hundred
and six.
In force.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from from the date of its passage.
