Per diem.















Proviso.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That every person who shall by consent
of parties, or under the provisions of the act of eighteen
hundred and fifty-two, chapter sixty-eight, be appointed
to try any cause or causes, (unless he shall be
one of the judges of this State,) shall be paid out of
the treasury of the State, the sum of ten dollars per
day for every day he shall be necessarily engaged in
court in hearing, trying, continuing or otherwise disposing
of such cause or causes; and the said ten dollars
shall be held and considered as full compensation
for one day's services, without respect to the number of
cases that may be acted upon by him as special judge
as aforesaid, during such day; Provided, however, that
when any person is appointed special judge as aforesaid,
to try a cause or causes out of the county in which
he resides, such person shall be allowed, to cover his
travelling expenses, at the rate of ten cents per mile for
each mile he shall travel by the usual route, in going
to and returning from the place where such cause or
causes may be for trial, but constructive mileage shall
in no case be allowed.

     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

                           CHAPTER 426.

AN ACT to refund to Solomon Betts and Robert G.
     Price, former collectors of Queen Anne's county, a
     sum of money therein named, being an over payment
     of State taxes into the Treasury.
     Authority to
pay.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That the Treasurer of this State be and
he is hereby directed to pay upon the warrant of the
Comptroller, the sum of thirteen dollars and nine cents
to Solomon Betts, and the sum of thirty-six dollars and
eighty-three cents to Robert G. Price, for over payments
of taxes into the Treasury, as former collectors of State
tax for Queen Anne's county, being the amount allowed
by the county commissioners for insolvencies.
In force.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
