schools in said district; and the trustees appointed by
the first section of this act shall have power to fill any
vacancy in their own body that may happen from time
to time, while this act shall continue and be in force.

CHAPTER 357.
AN ACT to refund to Greenbury T. Sappington, late
Collector in the Second Collection District of Anne
Arundel county, an over-payment of State taxes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted
by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer be, and he is hereby
authorised and directed, upon the warrant of the Comptroller,
to pay to Greenbury T. Sappington, late collector
of the direct tax in the second collection district
of Anne Arundel county, the sum of fourteen dollars
and sixty-one cents, being the amount of insolvencies
allowed him by the county commissioners of said county,
and which he had previously paid into the Treasury.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted,
That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to refund to Isaac C. Handy, of Somerset
county, certain State taxes erroneously paid by him.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted
by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer is hereby authorised
and directed to pay, upon the warrant of the Comptroller,
to Isaac C. Handy, of Somerset county, or order,
the sum of seven dollars and eighty-three cents, being
the amount of State taxes erroneously paid by him in
the years eighteen hundred and forty-one, eighteen
hundred and forty-two, eighteen hundred and forty-three,
eighteen hundred and forty-four, eighteen hundred
and forty-five, eighteen hundred and forty-six,
