the Island of Hyati, be and the same is hereby made
valid and effectual, and to have the same effect as if
the same were made in conformity to the requirements
of the laws of this State, before a consul of the United
States, or any other officer authorised to take acknowledgments
of deeds.

     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect immediately.

                                   CHAPTER 54.

AN ACT to authorise the Governor to affix the Great
                               Seal to copies of laws.

14, 1853.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That the Governor shall be, and he is hereby
authorised, on application, to affix the great seal with
his signature, to copies of laws and resolutions, certified
to be correct by the clerk of the Court of Appeals,
under his seal.
Authorised to
affix a seal.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.

                                   CHAPTER 55.

AN ACT authorising the payment to George W. Hammond,
     of a sum of money therein named, for work
     done and materials furnished at Tobacco Warehouse,
     number two, in the city of Baltimore.

29, 1853.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That the Treasurer, upon the warrant
of the Comptroller, be, and he is hereby authorised to
pay to George W. Hammond, Inspector of Tobacco at
Warehouse, number two, out of any money standing
to the credit of the Tobacco Fund, and not otherwise
appropriated, the sum of one hundred and eighty dollars
and twenty cents, being for work done and materials
furnished at warehouse, number two, as per
     Authority to
pay.
