                           CHAPTER 343.

AN ACT for the effectual encouragement of Volunteer
                 Corps, in the city of Baltimore.
Consolidated.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That all volunteer corps, in the city of
Baltimore shall be consolidated in the first Light Division
of Maryland volunteers, the first brigade in said
division consisting of the fifth regiment volunteer infantry,
authorised by the fourth section of the act of
December session, eighteen hundred and twenty-five,
chapter fifty-six, of the first light cavalry regiment authorised
by the fifth section of same act, and of the
regiment of artillery authorised by the twentieth section
of the act of December session, eighteen hundred and
thirty-seven, chapter three hundred and forty-nine,
which regiment shall be called the first light artillery
regiment of Baltimore volunteers; the second light
brigade in said division, consisting of the first regiment
of riflemen and the fifty-third regiment of volunteer
infantry, agreeably to the fourth section of the act of
December session, eighteen hundred and thirty-five,
chapter two hundred and ninety-five, and no volunteer
corps shall be allowed in said city except those attached
to said division.
Abolished.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That the first brigade
of artillery, with the first and second regiments of artillery
attached thereto, and the fifth regiment of cavalry
attached to the third brigade, be hereby abolished, and
all commissions for said brigade and regiments of artillery,
or for said cavalry regiment are hereby revoked
and annulled.
Restored.
     SEC. 3.  And be it enacted, That the four company
artillery districts laid off and allotted in said city for the
said second regiment of artillery, by the third section of
the act of December session, eighteen hundred and
twenty-three, chapter one hundred and eighty-eight, be,
the same are hereby restored to the infantry districts of
the sixth, twenty-seventh, thirty-ninth and fifty-second
regiments, each of which regiments shall hereafter be
divided into ten, instead of eleven company districts.
     Company received
to be
of same arm.
     SEC. 4.  And be it enacted, That no regiment in
said division shall retain, or shall receive any company
which is not of the same arm with itself, nor shall any
company leaving a regiment be received by another
regiment of the same arm without the consent, in
writing, or a majority of the field officers of the regiment
that is left.
