CHAPTER 320.
AN ACT explanatory of an act passed at the January
Session, eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter two
hundred and thirty-one, entitled, an act to provide for
the formation of corporations, for moral, scientific,
literary,
dramatic, agricultural or charitable purposes, and
for the incorporation of uniform volunteer companies,
fire engine or hose companies, and benevolent and
musical associations.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, doubts have been entertained
in relation
to the meaning of an act passed at the January session,
eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter two hundred
and thirty-one, entitled, an act to provide for the formation
of corporations for moral, scientific, literary, dramatic,
agricultural or charitable purposes, and for the
incorporation of uniform volunteer companies, fire engine
or hose companies, and benevolent and musical
associations, whether the first section of said act requires
the name of all the members of any association
asking to be incorporated under said act, or only seven
members thereof, and as it is believed that the act aforesaid
intended that seven members should be deemed
sufficient to sign and seal the articles of agreement of
any association applying for an act of incorporation
under the provisions of the act aforesaid; Therefore,

compliance.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted
by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That in all applications for an act of
incorporation under the provisions of the act above
referred to, it shall be deemed a sufficient compliance
with the law, that the instrument of writing specifying
the object of any association be signed, sealed and executed
in the manner therein directed, by at least seven
