to give public notice of such examination, and written
notice of the same to each parent or guardian who may
have a child or ward attending such school.
     Authority to
levy.







Proviso.
     SEC. 13.  And be it enacted, That the county commissioners
of Saint Mary's county in making their levy
for county purposes, shall annually levy on the assessable
property of said county, to be applied to the common
schools of said county, such amount as in the
judgment of the school commissioners of the county
may be necessary to insure the successful operation of
the common schools of said county; Provided, the
the amount to be levied shall not be more than five
cents in the hundred dollars, and the amount so levied
shall be collected by the county collector as other county
taxes are; and the county commissions in taking the
bonds of the several county collectors shall require such
additional security as will insure the payment to the
Treasurer of the school fund the amount so levied.
    Apportionment
of
money.
     SEC. 14.  And be it enacted, That the school commissioners
of Saint Mary's county shall apportion
equally among the several school districts the amount
the said county shall be entitled to receive from the
Treasurer of the State, and the amount authorised to
be levied by this act, and when the provisions of this
act shall have been complied with, the said commissioners
are authorised to pay or cause to be paid to the
order of the trustees of the several school districts, the
distributive share of each in the following manner:
one-half when they shall be satisfied that said school
has been open for instruction five months, and the balance
when they shall be satisfied the said school has
been open for instruction ten months in the year, exclusive
of vacation.
Per diem.




Proviso.
     SEC. 15.  And be it enacted, That the school commissioners
of Saint Mary's county, shall receive a per
diem of two dollars for every day of actual session, and
said compensation shall be paid out of the money authorised
to be levied by this act; Provided, that said
commissioners shall not receive compensation for more
than ten days in any one year.
