for any tobacco brought to warehouse number
three, beyond the capacity of the latter to receive and
store, and the expense of such arrangement may be added
to the sums hereinbefore authorised.

     SEC. 5.  And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.

                           CHAPTER 200.

AN ACT to rebuild or remodel the jail of Baltimore
     city and county, in case of the separation of the jail
     of the said city from the jail of said county, or to authorise
     the building of a new jail.

     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That in case the city of  Baltimore should
become the proprietor of the present jail of Baltimore
city and county, the mayor and city council of Baltimore
shall have full power and authority to remodel,
rebuild, repair or make additions to the present building,
in such manner, and according to such plan as the
said mayor and city council may determine; Provided,
that said remodeling, plan of rebuilding, repair,
or additions are made and executed with a view to the
confinement of prisoners, in the jail of the said city and
to the system of labor, directed by the laws heretofore
made with reference to the government, discipline and
employment of prisoners confined in the jail of Baltimore
city and county, or in the jail of Baltimore city,
in case of the separation of the jail of the said city from
the jail of the said county.
     Power to remodel

Proviso.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That in case the said
mayor and city council of Baltimore, should consider
any change in the location of the present jail, in case of
the separation of the jail of the said city from the jail
of the said county to be necessary and proper, the said
mayor and city council are hereby authorised to purchase
or use other property for the building of a new
jail than that now occupied therefor, and to build such
new jail with reference to the government and discipline
of prisoners confined in the jail of Baltimore city
and council already provided for by law.
     Authority to

     SEC. 3.  And be it enacted, That the mayor and
city council of Baltimore shall, in case of the separation
