                           CHAPTER 141.

AN ACT to incorporate the Associated Professors of
          Loyola College, in the city of Baltimore.



Passed April
13, 1853.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That John Early, James A. Ward,
Samuel Lilly, Anthony Mareschi, James R. Fulton,
Edward T. McNerhany, and their successors, to be appointed
according to the rules of said institution be, and
they are hereby created a body corporate by the name
and style of the Associated Professors of Loyola College,
in the city of Baltimore, and that by that name
they are hereby vested with the power to sue and be
sued, plead and be impleaded, in any court of law or
equity, or any other place whatsoever, and to confer
any degree or degrees in any of the faculties, arts and
sciences and liberal professions, which are usually permitted
to be conferred in any Colleges or Universities
in the United States of America, and to have and use a
common seal, and the same to make, break or alter at
pleasure; and that by the name aforesaid, they and their
successors are hereby authorised and empowered to purchase,
have and enjoy, in fee or for any lesser estate,
any lands, tenements, annuities, pensions or other hereditaments,
and the same to alien, sell and transfer at
their pleasure, in futherance of their said College;
Provided, always that the annual income of such property,
hereafter so to be acquired, shall not at any time
exceed the sum of fifteen thousand dollars.
Incorporated.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That the Associated
Professors at Loyola College, in the city of Baltimore,
shall have full power, from time to time, to pass such
by-laws and ordinances as may be necessary to carry
out the intentions of said corporation; Provided, the
same shall not be contrary to the Constitution and
Laws of the United States or of the State of Maryland.

Proviso.
     SEC. 3.  And be it enacted, That the Legislature
reserves the right to alter, amend or repeal this act or
any part thereof at pleasure.
Reservation.
     SEC. 4.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
