of acknowledgment were in all respects regular;
Provided, that such deeds were in all other respects executed
and acknowledged according to the requirements of
existing laws; And provided, that nothing herein contained
shall effect the rights of any creditors, or of purchasers
without actual notice, nor shall anything herein
effect any suit action or controversy now pending in
any of the courts of this State.

     SEC. 9.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect immediately.

                                   CHAPTER 119.

AN ACT in addition to an act entitled, an act to incorporate
     the Chesapeake Bank, by reducing the number
     of its directors.

6, 1853.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this
act, and its acceptance by a majority of the stockholders,
at a meeting of the above named corporation, called
for that purpose, the number of directors provided for
in the original act to which this is a supplement, be
and the same are hereby reduced in number to nine,
who shall have the same powers and qualifications, be
subject to the same duties and restrictions, and also be
elected at the times and in the manner as are particularly
set forth in the sixth section of an act entitled, an
act to corporate the Chesapeake Bank, passed at the
session of eighteen hundred and thirty-five, chapter
three hundred and thirteen.
     Number of

     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That the president
and four directors shall constitute a board for the transaction
of business, but ordinary discounts may be granted
as the by-laws may direct.
