                                   CHAPTER 112.

AN ACT to authorise the appointment of a Bailiff of
     the Orphans' court of Howard county, and to fix the
     compensation of the same.
     Authority to
appoint bailiff.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That the orphans' court of Howard
county be, and they are hereby authorised and empowered
to appoint a bailiff to said court, and that the
per diem of said bailiff shall be two dollars during the
sittings of the court.
In force.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.

                                   CHAPTER 112.

AN ACT to confirm the acts of Walter R. Jones and
    William Hunter, as Justices of the Peace for Baltimore
     county.
Preamble.
     WHEREAS, Walter R. Jones and William Hunter
were appointed and commissioned justices of the peace
for Baltimore county, to reside in the city of Baltimore,
who, having taken the oath of office, proceeded to act
as justices of the peace for said county, by taking acknowledgments
of deeds and other instruments, and
in administering oaths and affirmations pursuant to the
act entitled, an act authorising the justices of the peace
for Baltimore county to take acknowledgments of
deeds and other instruments, and administer oaths and
affirmation within the limits of the court house and
recorded office in the city of Baltimore, passed at January
session, eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter eighty-six;
And whereas, Doubts are entertained whether the
acts and doings of the said Jones and Hunter, or of either
of them, are legal and in strict conformity with former
acts of Assembly, and with the present constitution,
Therefore,
Acts confirmed.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That the acts and proceedings of the
aforesaid Walter R. Jones and William Hunter, and of
each of them, in taking acknowledgments of deeds
