                                            CHAPTER 51.

A further additional supplement to a supplementary act, entitled, An act
    for the recovery of small debts out of court, passed at December session,
    eighteen hundred and twenty-four, chapter one hundred and
    thirty-eight.

2, 1826.

    Sec. 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, 
That from and after the first day of May next, in all cases where
any injury shall be done to any real or personal property within
this state; and where the damages claimed or laid shall not exceed
the sum of fifty dollars, it shall and may be lawful for any
one justice of the peace of the county where the same shall have
been committed, or where the trespasser may reside, to hear and
determine the matter in controversy between the parties, and to
give judgment against the person or persons by whom the trespass
had been committed, for such damages, as to the said justice
may appear to be reasonable and just, not exceeding the sum
of fifty dollars as aforesaid.
    Damage
under $50.
    2.  And be it enacted, That the several provisions of the act of
December session, eighteen hundred and twenty-four, chapter
one hundred and thirty-eight, shall extend and apply with equal
force to this act.

    3.  And be it enacted, That all laws contrary to or inconsistent
with the provisions of this act, be, and the same are hereby repealed,
    Repealing
clause.

                                            CHAPTER 52.

An act to confirm the proceedings of William C. Dawkins, late a justice
                                of the peace for Calvert county.

Passed Jan.
26, 1826.
    WHEREAS, William C. Dawkins, of Calvert county, did
transact business as s justice of the peace for said county, whilst
holding the office of post master; all of which acts are deemed
illegal:  And whereas, unless the said acts are made valid much
evil may result therefrom; Therefore,
Preamble.
    Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
all acts and proceedings which have been done by the said William
C. Dawkins, since his appointment as a justice of the peace
for the county aforesaid, shall be as valid and shall have the
same force, effect and operation in law as if the said William
C. Dawkins had been duly qualified as a justice of the peace
of the state of Maryland, in and for Calvert county, according
to the laws of the said state.
Acts confirmed.

                                            CHAPTER 53.

An act to extend the benefit of an act, passed February the eleventh,
    eighteen hundred and twenty two, chapter one hundred and fifty two,
    relating to Public Roads in the several counties therein mentioned,
    to Nathaniel Hoskin, of Harford county.

Passed Jan.
3, 1826.
    Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Levy court of Harford county on the application of Nathaniel
    Levy court
directed.
