necessary to complete the same on a scale corresponding with
that of the said Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.
     Resolved, That the governor be requested to transmit the
above resolution to the President of the United States.

                                            No. 55.

     Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, be, and
he is hereby authorized and required to pay to John J. Brooke,
Esquire, a delegate from Calvert county, four dollars for each
day during which he shall be detained by sickness at the seat of
government after the close of the session.

                                            No. 56.

     Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
treasurer of the western shore be, and he is hereby authorised
and required to sell or dispose of all bank notes in the treasury
that are not current, on the best practicable terms, at his discretion,
and to receive the avails of such sale or disposition, subject
to the appropriation of the legislature, if in his opinion the
same shall be conducive to the public interest.

John Blake, of Worcester county, or to his order, in quarterly

John Bond, of Hampshire county, in the state of Virginia or to
his order, during life, in quarterly annual payments, the half
pay of a sergeant, as a further remuneration for his services during
