                        JOS. KENT, ESQ. GOVERNOR.

any suit, on a bill of exchange, promissory note or other negotiable
instrument, shall be reversed or in any way set aside on
an appeal or writ of error; because the endorsement or endorsements
of such bill of exchange, promissory note or other negotiable
instrument may be in blank; and that such judgment
shall be as good and valid to every intent and purpose as if such,
endorsement or endorsements were properly filled up.

                                            CHAPTER 36.

An act to compensate the Trustees of the Poor of Caroline county, for
                                             their services.

Preamble.     WHEREAS, It is right and proper, that those who dedicate
their time and services to the public interest, should receive
reasonable compensation therefor:  And whereas, It is represented
to this General Assembly, that the trustees of the poor of
Caroline county have for many years, performed arduous and
faithful services to their county, in executing the trusts confided
to them, without any compensation and subject at the
same time to heavy penalties for a neglect of duty:  Therefore,
$1 per day.     Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, the trustees of the poor,
of Caroline county, shall, each of them, be entitled to receive
one dollar per day, for every day they shall necessarily attend
at the poor or alms-house, in said county, in performing the
duties imposed on them by law.

                                            CHAPTER 37.

            An act for the relief of Samuel Lee, of Harford county.

Proviso.

        Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the levy court of Harford county, be, and they are hereby authorised
and required to levy and assess annually, on the assessable
property of sid county, the sum of thirty dollars for the
support and maintenance of Samuel Lee, of said county, and
his helpless family, to be collected by the collector for the district
in which he may reside, and by him paid over to such person
as the sid Samuel Lee shall name, and the levy court
aforesaid approve of:  Provided, That if at any time hereafter
the situation of the said Samuel Lee, shall become such as to enable
him to procure a subsistence without such relief as is hereinbefore
provided for him, then and in that case the said allowance
shall cease.
