Resolved, That the treasurer of the Western Shore,
be, and
he is hereby directed to relinquish the state's claim for interest
due from the heirs of Peter Joy and others, for confiscated property
sold the thirteenth day of September seventeen hundred
and eighty-one, upon their paying the principal due to the state,
on or before the first day of August, eighteen hundred and twenty-seven.

Resolved, That the governor and council, be, and
they are
hereby authorised, to select and employ proper council, not exceeding
two members of the bar of Maryland, to appear to the
suits now pending against citizens of this state, in the supreme
or circuit courts of the United States, for arrearages of quit
rents claimed by the administrator of Louisa Browning.
Resolved, That the governor be, and he is hereby
authorised
to draw upon the treasurer of the Western Shore for such sum
or sums of money, as may be necessary to compensate such
counsel, and to defray all necessary incidental expenses incurred
in obtaining necessary documents, or otherwise in defending
the said suits.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the Western Shore,
pay to
John K. B. Emory, late treasurer of the Eastern Shore, or order,
two hundred and sixty dollars, for his salary, and for expenses
incurred by him as treasurer.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the
treasurer of the Western Shore (elect) before he proceeds to act
in the office, to which he has been elected, shall give bond in the
sum of two hundred thousand dollars, in the manner and form
prescribed by the act of November session, eighteen hundred
and one, chapter sixty-six.

Resolved, That the register of the land office
issue to Mountjoy
Bailey, a warrant for two hundred acres of land, to be located
on any unappropriated land belonging to this state, in Allegany
county heretofore unpatented, as a donation granted by
this state to the officers of his rank, who served in the Maryland
line, during the revolutionary war, and to which they consider
him entitled.
