                            LAWS OF MARYLAND.

lottery granted to the University of Maryland, by the act of
eighteen hundred and sixteen, chapter seventy-eight, to which
this is an additional supplement, fourteen thousand two hundred
dollars be, and they are hereby appropriated for the use of
the professorship of law, to be expended under the direction of
the trustees of the University of Maryland, in the erection or
purchase of suitable buildings and procuring a library and other
accommodations for the use of the professor of law.

    2.  And be it enacted, That out of the proceeds of said lottery,
received next after the above sum, the sum of three thousand
eight hundred dollars be and the same are hereby appropriated
for such of the medical professors in the University of Maryland
as have erected the Infirmary, and shall be paid to them by the
said trustees on condition, that the said professors shall on or
before said payment convey and transfer to the trustees of said
university the title to said Infirmary free and clear of all incumbrances,
except the ground rent reserved on the lot on which it
is erected.

    3.  And be it enacted, That out of the proceeds of said lottery,
received after the sum mentioned in the foregoing section, the
sum of six thousand five hundred dollars be, and hereby is appropriated
for the purchase of chemical apparatus of said
University, under the inspection or direction of the trustees of
said University.
For Chemical
apparatus.
    4.  And be it enacted, That out of the proceeds of said lottery
received after the sum mentioned in the foregoing section,
the sum of two thousand dollars be, and hereby is appropriated
for the purchase of apparatus for the faculty of arts and
sciences.
    For faculty
of Arts and
Sciences.
    5.  And be it enacted, That the residue of the proceeds which
may be received from said lottery, shall be appropriated in
such manner for the benefit of said University, as the trustees
thereof may determine; Provided always, That no part thereof
shall be expended in the payment of salaries or other annual
expenses of said University.

Proviso.

    6.  And be it enacted, That all parts of the act to which this
is a supplement, and all parts of other acts which are inconsistent
with the provisions of this act, be, and the same are hereby
repealed.

An act to authorise the appointment of justices of the peace in the City
                            of Baltimore with limited jurisdiction.

Passed March
6, 1826.
    Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the governor, by and with the advice and consent of the council,
may appoint and commission four persons residing in the city
Baltimore, to be styled in their commission, " justices of the peace
for Baltimore county, residing in the city of Baltimore," and the
