            JOSEPH KENT, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

    2.  Be it enacted, That all the estate, right, title, claim or interest
which the said Sarah, now hath or may hereafter become
entitled to, in the real or personal estate of the said Charles
Warfield be, and the same is hereby declared to be vacated and
made null and void in the same manner as if they had never
been married; and also that all the estate, right and interest which
the said Charles hath acquired, or may become entitled to in
any real or personal estate of the said Sarah, by virtue of their
said marriage, be in like manner vacated and annulled; and the
said Sarah Warfield is hereby declared capable to take, have,
hold and transmit all her present or any future estate, and
to maintain suits at law and in equity, in as full and ample a
manner as if she were a femme sole, and had never been married.

Liability annulled.     3.  And be it enacted, That the said Charles Warfield shall not
be liable for any debts hereafter to be contracted by the said
Sarah Warfield.

                                            CHAPTER 187.

An act to Incorporate the Susquehannah and Elkton Turnpike Company.

Company to
be incorporated.
    Sec. 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a company be incorporated to make a turnpike road from
the lower ferry, at the mouth of the Susquehanna river, in the
straightest and most direct rout which the nature of the ground
and other circumstances will admit of, to the town of Elkton in
Cecil county, to be located by the president and managers to be
appointed under the provisions of this act.
    Capital—

books; notice.
    2.  And be it enacted, That subscription books be opened for
a capital stock of forty thousand dollars, in shares of twenty-five
dollars each and that subscriptions be taken at Chesapeake, under
the direction of John Stump, Joseph Couden and George
Gale or any two of them; at North East, under the direction of
Thomas S. Thomas, John C. Cazier and John F. Cazier, or any
two of them; and at Elkton, under the direction of James Sewall,
Tobias Rudolph, Joshua Richardson, Alexander Scott and
Levi H. Evans or any three of them, who are hereby appointed
commissioners for the purposes aforesaid; who shall on or before
the first Monday in June, in the year eighteen hundred and
twenty seven, procure books, and in each make the following
entry; " We whose names are hereunto subscribed, do promise
to pay to the president and managers of the Susquehannah and
Elkton turnpike Company, the sum of twenty-five dollars for
every share of stock set opposite to our names, respectively
witness our hands, this __________ day of __________
_____ in the year eighteen hundred and twenty, __________"
and shall give notice in two of the public papers printed in Baltimore,
and in the newspapers printed in Elkton, for one month
at least, of the times when and the places where the said books
