                                            CHAPTER 17.

An act to change the name of Octavius Wilkinson and George Wilkinson,
    of Calvert County, to the name of Octavius Wilkinson Bowen,
    and George Wilkinson Bowen, and for other purposes.

    WHEREAS, Aquilla G. Bowen, of Calvert county, by his petition
to this general assembly, hath set forth, that previous to
his intermarriage with Elizabeth Bowen, his present wife, he
had two children, Octavius Wilkinson, and George Wilkinson,
by Rebecca Wilkinson, born out of wedlock, who hath since
departed this life, leaving the said children dependant for their
support on him the said Aquilla G. Bowen, who hath taken
them home, and wishes to impart them all the privileges of
children born in wedlock:  Therefore,
Preamble.
    SEC. 1.  Be it enacted y the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the name of the said Octavius Wilkinson, and George
Wilkinson, and of each of them, is hereby changed and altered
unto the name of Octavius Wilkinson Bowen, and George
Wilkinson Bowen, and they and their descendants, and the descendants
of each of them, shall at all times hereafter be called
and known by, and hold and use the name of Bowen only, and
by such name shall sue, and be sued, in any court of law or
equity.
Name changed.
    2.  And be it enacted, That all securities, promises, contracts,
assurances, deeds and lawful acts whatsoever, hereafter to be
made and done by, and to the said Octavius Wilkinson, and
George Wilkinson, or either of them, by the name of Octavius
Wilkinson Bowen, and George Wilkinson Bowen, shall be of
the same force, validity and effect, and of equal avail, to all
intents and purposes, as if the name of Octavius Wilkinson
Bowen, and George Wilkinson Bowen, had been the true and
proper name of the said Octavius Wilkinson, and George
Wilkinson, from their births; any law or custom to the contrary
notwithstanding.
Acts confirmed.
    3.  And be it enacted, That the said Octavius Wilkinson
Bowen, and George Wilkinson Bowen, shall be, and they are
hereby legitimated and made capable in law to inherit and to
transmit inheritance, as if born in wedlock.
Legitimised.

                                            CHAPTER 18.

A supplement to the act entitled, An act to Incorporate the Mutual Insurance
                                      Company of Baltimore.

Passed Jan.
20, 1826.
    Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the affairs and business of the Mutual Insurance Company of
Baltimore, shall hereafter be conducted and managed by a board
of twelve directors, instead of seven, to be elected annually,
Directors.
