Gentlemen of the Senate :
We have received yoni invitation to participate in
the inauguration of the Governor-elect, in compliance
with the requirements of the Constitution and laws of
the State, and we respectfully concur therein.

Which was read
At 11.55 a. m.,
The Speaker and members of the House of Delegates
arrived.
At 12 m.,
The Hon. Edwin Warfield, Governor-elect, accom-
panied by his Excellency Governor John Walter
Smith, and the Judges of the Court of Appeals, ap-
peared in the Senate Chamber,
Whereupon,
The Governor-elect arose and delivered the follow-
ing address, in the presence of the General Assembly,
the Honorable Judges of the Court of Appeals, and a
large concourse of citizens.
After which the oath of office was administered by
the Hon. James McSherry, Chief Judge of the Court
of Appeals, in accordance with the Constitution of the
State of Maryland
ADDRESS.
Fellow Citizens :
The time has come when I must enter upon the
duties of the post of trust and responsibility to which
I have been called by a vast majority of the thought-
ful and intelligent voters of Maryland.
I am deeply sensible of the great honor conferred
upon me by my fellow citizens, and profoundly grate-
ful for so distinguished a mark of their confidence.
