Mr. Brewington offered the follqwing message:
BY THE SENATE,
January 28, 1904.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :
We respectfully propose, with the concurrence of
your Honorable Body, that all bills, and leaves to in-
troduce bills, to sanction bequests, devises, sales,,
gifts or conveyances to religious or charitable objects,
be referred to the Committee on Judidial Proceedings
and the Committee on the Judiciary of the respective
Houses, and that said committee be and they are
hereby instructed to report on March 11, 1904, a gen-
eral bill embracing all such bills and leaves, except
where there is a special reason for more speedy
action, in which case separate bills may be introduced.

JOINT CONVENTION OF THE GENERAL AS-
SEMBLY OF MARYLAND.
ELECTION OF A SENATOR IN CONGRESS.
Pursuant to adjournment,
The hour of 12 o'clock, meridian, having arrived,
The Senators of Maryland escorted by Messrs. Col-
lins and Feaga, the committee appointed by the
House of Delegates for that purpose, appeared in the
Hall of the Hcuse of Delegates, for the purpose of con-
vening with the Members of the House of Delegates in
Joint Assembly for the election of a Senator from this
State for a term of six years, from March 4th, 1905, in
succession of tlhe Hon. Louis E. McComas, whose term
will then expire.
