Whereupon,

It appearing that the Hon. Charles H. Gibson had
received a majority of all the votes cast (a majority
of all the members elected to both Houses being pres-
ent and voting, ) the Chairman declared that the Hon.
Charles H. Gibson having received a majority of all
the votes cast he is therefore elected Senator from the
State of Maryland to the Congress of the United
States to fill the unexpired term of the Hon. Ephraim
K. Wilson, deceased, which term expires on the 4th
day of March, 1897.

The Chairman then announced that the Joint As-
sembly had finished the business for which it had
assembled.

Whereupon,

The Chairman declared the Joint Assembly ad-
journed, and the Senators returned to the Senate
Chamber.

Mr. Robinson submitted the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

January 21st, 1892.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We propose, with the concurrence of your Hon-
orable Body, that when the General Assembly ad-
journs to-day it stands adjourned until Tuesday next,
at 8 P. M.

W. G. PURNELL,

Secretary,
Which was read.

Mr. Moss moved to amend said message by striking
out "Tuesday" and inserting "Monday. "
On motion by Mr. Wirt,
The amendment was laid upon the table.
