Mr. Evans submitted the following proposed amend-
ment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

in line 63, strike out the words "for a period of five
(5) years from the beginning of their respective opera-
tions ; but this exemption shall not continue for a
longer period than such five (5) years," as the above
words occur in lines 64 and 65 of the printed bill.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Hayes submitted the following proposed amend-
ment :

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

In section 4, line 14, after the word "description,"
in said line, insert the following words: "Except
watches, diamonds and other costly jewelry not
habitually worn on the person.

Mr. Moss submitted the following proposed amend-
ment :

In section 1, line 67, aft r the word "gas," in the
printed bill, add "and electric light."

ment:

In section 146, after the words "State tax," wher-
ever its occurs in said section, insert the words "as a
franchise tax."

In section 146, in lines 11, 14 and 16, after the word
receipts," insert "or earnings,''
