Proceedings of yesterday's session read and approved.

PETITIONS, MEMORIALS, &c.

The President presented the memorial of Bird vs.
Talbott, contested election from Calvert county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Elections.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared
and delivered the following message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 20th, 1892.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honor-
able Body, the appointment of a Joint Select Com-
mittee, to consist of three members on the part of the
House of Delegates, and two on the part of the Senate,
to examine into the condition of the Executive Man-
sion, with leave to report by bill or otherwise.

We have appointed on the part of the House,
Messrs. Sams, Berret and Laird.

Which was read.

Mr. Hayes presented the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

January 20th, 1892.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message proposing the ap-
pointment of a Joint Special Committee, to inquire
into the condition of the Executive Mansion, with,
leave to report by bill or otherwise, what, if any
repairs or refurnishing are necessary and requisite,
and concur therein.

We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs.
Hayes and Bennett.
