368 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS. [Feb. 25,
You will doubtless remember that during the last
session of the Virginia Legislature a committee was
appointed to confer with a similar committee to be
appointed by the Legislature of Maryland, in regard
to establishing the boundary line between Virginia
and Maryland and in doing so to consider and settle,
if possible, a part, at least, of the question involved in
your recent resolution, as far as the taking of oysters,
&c., in the Potomac River was concerned. The Leg-
islature of your State at its said session failed to ap-
point a similar committee on its part and Governor
Jackson afterwards satisfactorily explained the reason.

ter prosecuted in vacation, we should be glad to have
your early reply in order that our Legislature may
appoint a committee for the purpose indicated.
We have the honor to be,
Most resp'y yours,
W. A. LITTLE, JR.,
Chairman of Senate Committee
on Fish and Game.

requesting to know the will of the Legislature of Vir-
ginia as to the time at which, it will be agreeable to
this Body to receive the said Joint Committee of
Maryland.
And Whereas, A copy of said resolution of the
General Assembly of Maryland was duly communi-
cated to the Legislature of Virginia through his Ex-
cellency, the Governor of this State; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate (the House of Delegates con-
curring), That the Committee on Fish and Game of
the Senate, and the Committee on the Chesapeake and
